#gifts - #Gift for my mom (who doesn't like knick knacks and says she doesn't need anything)

Hello!I've always struggled with gift ideas - I like doing quirky, unexpected things because of an ex who was amazing at gift giving (as an example, she once surprised me with a backpacking backpack filled with gear because she knew I was going on a trip with friends later that summer. I had been expecting to use their gear.) It's not any super special occasion, but I haven't gotten my mom anything super nice/thoughtful in awhile. I did pretty typical stuff for her birthday. She is REALLY into singing/playing guitar, but has most of the equipment and such already. She has recently started getting into songwriting, so I'm thinking I could maybe get her something related to that to keep her songs organized, but idk.She is a teacher, does pottery, and is also currently figuring out a new living situation as my sister is moving out and my mom needs to find a more affordable place. Thanks for your help! via /r/Gifts http://ift.tt/2ha5xpt

#gifts - #Looking for a wedding gift for my brother and his fiancée

I'm really stuck, and I'm so glad I found this subreddit! My younger brother is getting married this Fall. I'm looking for something unique, memorable and special for them. The details/why I'm having trouble:They do not have a gift registry as my brother didn't want to "request gifts", and I don't want anything 'utilitarian' in nature. They have a lot of money and "have everything" already. They will be honeymooning in AsiaThey're both awesome geeks. They met playing foosball; they go to Comiccon regularly, in full costume; my brother works with computers; she is big into aerial silks, rock climbing, staying active, knitting, and she reads a lot. They have two dogs and two cats. They're both big foodiesI want something memorable and unique. An "experience" type gift would also be cool, or something home-related that would last a long time, like, I don't know, a special kind of time capsule or picture frame thing that they can add things to as they build their life together or something... I'm not thinking of anything specific, just that if I'm buying something for their house, I'd like to get something meaningful and significant, vs. just a piece of art for example. I don't want gift certificates unless it's for something that's going to blow their minds and which they'll never forget. Thanks for the help! Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated! via /r/Gifts http://ift.tt/2u4KB4z
