My dad is some kind of prison guard (I think? He's never explicitly told me) and is on his way to being a street cop. There's still a chance he won't make it to be one, so I'm trying to steer away from gimmicky cop gifts. He's got a girlfriend who has lots of kids, and they're considering having one of their own, so I considered some kind of family experience. I can't think of anything I can afford that they would all like. He likes jokes, even if it's a little dark. And he like technology (he's got some kind of rip off apple watch. For my sisters I went with a movie night theme: movie theater gift card, DVD of a movie that felt unique to them, movie candy, popcorn and so on to fill everything out. I probably spent $100 per basket. They're each married and have 2 kids. I felt like it was well received. The gift card (which was for $50) was the main gift and then everything else was just to fill out the experience.For my mom and dad I spent $100 on a local restaurant gift card and then put in a basket with a bottle of wine (for my dad) and some nice hot tea (for my mom).I actually felt I did a better job last year than I had in prior years where I would wait too long and then just try and jumble too much together. I would end up spending too much and it always felt disorganized.Anyway, I'm thinking about going the same route this year, but with a different themes. Some I've kicked around have been family game night or a local sports team theme.Any ideas or thoughts?
