Posted this on r/askmen but they don't allow gift posts.One of my best friends just bought his first house out on the West Coast (Seattle). We're both in our early 20s, and typically we'd celebrate with a night on the town but I'm on literally the other side of the country and can't make it out his way for a while. I was thinking I might send him a housewarming present instead, but I'm not sure what to send. It's his first house and he's going to move in with his mom and sister after two months (they have to do a little remodeling first). I'd go for a gag gift but don't want to offend his family. I'd go for something utilitarian but I don't know what he'd find useful. I'd go for something decorative but I'm scared I'll get something that doesn't match his taste.
