His birthday is coming up, and I'm looking for a (cheap!) gift to round out the other items I'm getting him. He's a caffeine addict, so I'm getting him a bag of his favorite coffee. He loves to read, so I'm getting him a copy of my favorite book (he gifted me his favorite book for Christmas so I'm returning the favor) and the first Harry Potter book (he hasn't read them yet but has told me he plans to). He is really into computers and gaming, but isn't a particularly sentimental person like I am. He's a science geek and loves puzzles.I'm pretty decent at calligraphy so I plan on handwriting him a card like I did for Christmas.I'm hoping to get some feedback from others before I make a final decision. #gifts - #Is dinner a good enough present?

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to put this but my boyfriend’s 21st birthday is coming up and I know a really nice place to take him to dinner. On the day of his birthday, his parents are taking him out but I’m thinking the next weekend I’ll take him to this really nice dinner (a restaurant he’s never heard of that’s got a view of the beach, will probably be $50+) and he can get a nice cocktail too.For reference on my birthday he took me to dinner (probably $30 total) to a pretty normal place, a cute piggy bank ($10) and chocolates and flowers.We go out to eat a lot (rarely to anything that expensive though) and he never really lets me pay so I think it would be nice. But I’m worried maybe it’s not enough.
