I like to start thinking early about gifts for my family as my dad is so hard to buy for. I have exhausted the quality chocolate, beer and whiskey presents. In short, he is Scottish, works a lot, goes to Cambridge United football games in is spare time and spends about three weeks a year on holiday abroad. He hates clutter but loves something luxurious that he can brag about. Doesn't tend to enjoy 'day out' presents and I've already bought him an Xbox One/all the games he needs/a trip to Copenhagen/massages/the back catalogue of Hotel Chocolat in the past. I'm just struggling and need some inspiration - it really makes this time of year stressful for a present perfectionist on top of a stressful full time job! As a wedding gift, I am making a montage using videos from all of her friends and mine. I'd like to present it to her in a fun and creative way than just letting her watch it on my phone. One idea I could think of was to hide a cellphone in a wooden box like this one so that phone and the bezels are hidden and only the screen is visible. That way it can be a boxed gift. And when she opens the lid of the wooden box, she just has to hit play and watch the video. I can buy a wooden box off of Etsy. But then what? I couldn't find any video/blogs that try to do anything remotely close.Do you guys have any fun ideas?PS: The video is personal. So a while ago I asked for advice on this sub: my post and you were quite helpful. In the end, however, I chose to go for the safer approach, simply because we haven't been dating that long and I don't want to scare her. So I am still going with the Sketchbook (+ prolly some chocolate) along with This drawing inside it. I feel like it's not too cheesy as it's something simple and something she enjoys + a little personal touch with my drawing inside. It's not the best as I am not as good as her when it comes to this type of drawings, but she loves these so I gave it a shot myself. What do you think? Also, should I just leave it as it is (the Sketchbook and this drawing on the first page), or should I write something like "dear gf bla bla happy birthday.."?
