#gifts - #What gift can I give my father for Christmas that says “Every ounce of class my sister and I have, we learned from you.”?
He married our mother when we were in middle/elementary school. At that time, we had an every-other-Saturday biological dad who, now as adults, we recount what an absolute piece of fucking shit that guy was in the rare occasions we saw him. Our mother at the time was undiagnosed bipolar. So in the middle of that cluster...you had this young, brilliant, quiet guy passionate about music/music theory and teaching everything he possibly could to young people. He has to stay after class one day and meet the mom of some idiot 2nd grader in his violin class. Turns out, she tightened the strings like an animal and the bridge ruptured in her face the second she hit the first note of “Mary Had A Little Lamb.” (That was me. I was the idiot second grader.) And that was it. He fell in love with our mom, me and my sister. The first few years were rough. Our mom verbally/emotionally abused all 3 of us. We would leave notes for each other around the house because she would freak out if we were talking to each other...she imagined we were conspiring or something. All the while, he stayed. (Eventually, there was a name put to our mom’s imbalance and she’s been just a healthy mom that drives you insane to a normal capacity ever since.)But he stayed through all of that. I’ve never met anyone in my life that’s as refined as they are empathetic. He taught us to look at people. Hear people. Be proud of ourselves, contribute talents. All the while, never actually having to do any of that...he just stepped in and did it.Yeah. What gift can I get that says that? via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jtbicp/what_gift_can_i_give_my_father_for_christmas_that/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #If anyone needs help buying gifts for Christmas this is what I got my family, maybe it can give you some ideas.
I'm so happy I'm almost done with all my Christmas shopping. I only have 3 people to shop for so that makes it easier. I asked my mom (50 years old) what she wanted cause I really don't know what she likes or what she's into and she said, scrunchies and headbands. Weird I know lol. So I got her a few sets of silk scrunchies and headbands, but I also got her a magic bullet blender for her morning smoothies. For my sis she's a 11 year old girl, she's very artistic and loves creating stuff, so I got her art supplies. A 2 pack canvas, acrylic paint, a bunch of new brushes, paint palette, canvas pad/papers and a modeling clay kit. For my step dad (55 years old) he's always burning religious candles so I'm getting him about 5 of those and a car cleaning kit. I don't really know him that well either or what he's into lately but I think he'll like those gifts, and then I also do a treat bag for everyone with chocolate and some snacks. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jt7bur/if_anyone_needs_help_buying_gifts_for_christmas/?utm_source=ifttt

Kinda strange gift suggestion but I want to get her something for Christmas that would come in handy for the new arrival but something she could also get use out of herself. #gifts - #Gift Ideas from Places that Donate/Small Businesses
Hi, guys,I’m trying to avoid Amazon this year in my gift giving and reach toward more homemade/small businesses that may be hurting because COVID.I’m also on the lookout for businesses that sell something - basically anything - (stickers, magnets, shirts, etc) - and some of the profits go toward a cause. Again, preferably smaller businesses rather than rounding up my money at Target or whatever so they can get a tax break.Nothing’s too broad! I’ve got lots of people to send gifts to in lieu of in-person visiting! Thanks!! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jt09kx/gift_ideas_from_places_that_donatesmall_businesses/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #I (27, f, German) need to find the perfect Christmas gift for my boyfriend (28, m, Canadian)
So I need the perfect present for him and I was thinking since he’s probably gonna get homesick around Christmas so I could get or make him something that reminds him of home? He’s from Calgary but the only thing I know about life there is that apparently cowboys are a big thing there. Also I’ve never celebrated Christmas so I’m pretty clueless. I also kinda messed up his birthday present this year so it needs to be perfect this time. He LOVES to travel, loves football and soccer, likes to drink (especially beer and wine), he likes to go on adventures, his fashion is very simple. Since he is always so busy with work I was thinking about a spa day so he can relax but due to Covid that won’t be happening and it also isn’t a very personal and thought out gift. We haven’t been together for a long time so I’m still getting to know him and it’s kinda hard to find something but I wanna make him happy for Christmas since he won’t able to visit his family this year. Please help me! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jstagc/i_27_f_german_need_to_find_the_perfect_christmas/?utm_source=ifttt
#gifts - #Present for my dad? Help!!!
So my dad's birthday and Christmas are really near to each other so it doesn't really matter which is for which. He likes Dad's Army, Allo Allo, Friday Night Dinner, Not Going Out and other British TV shows like that. He likes construction but I have no idea about tools etc. He also likes bands like ACDC, Black Sabbath, etc. He doesn't like football, cooking, drinking, books unless it's to do with what he likes. Please help me!! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jsuq33/present_for_my_dad_help/?utm_source=ifttt
#gifts - #[Advice] Small but Wholesome Gifts after a rough year where I'm not in the mood the celebrate Christmas
First of all, I have to say that Christmas is all-around my favorite time of year, despite all the cold weather which I absolutely hate (fireplaces do help at that). And I'm not sure if this is the place for this question, but please help me in redirecting if for a better subreddit if needed. So, I will spare the details regarding my situation. But yes, I have had a very rough year which includes a 10Y separation (3Y of them married) which actually is leading me in going through a period of grief. And honestly, and for the first time in 13 years, I am not feeling Christmas at all. By this time I was already listening to songs in a constant loop, I already had all the gifts bought (or at least prepared) and was starting to prepare the Christmas tree. I am (was) always the lively one in the family regarding Christmas. And despite actually being quite balanced in personal terms regarding the grief period that I'm undergoing, I have to be honest, I'm not feeling it. I just want this year to end ASAP.I already said to my family and friends that they can count on me at the table for Christmas 24th dinner and lunch 25th (I think in Europe we celebrate it with a mix of thanksgiving) and I will honor the season as always. I won't be sad, I won't be mad. But I don't want gifts and I won't offer gifts as well. They actually said they will still give me gifts. However, today I woke up, and even though I still don't want to offer normal gifts, I will try to do differently. I want to give small but wholesome gifts to my family. Something that could really make a difference after a terrible year and for thanking them for being there for me in these difficult times. Or something that is completely out of the blue but really makes a difference instead of a book, a videogame, an ornament, etc...Has anybody tried a different gift approach for Christmas? Any ideas? I suck at crafting and manual arts btw. But on the other hand, I am a good "writer" overall and I can make someone cry (for good reasons) out of just reading what I see. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jsu8a1/advice_small_but_wholesome_gifts_after_a_rough/?utm_source=ifttt
