I recently turned 30 and my mom has really been wanting to get me something for my birthday. I usually shy away from asking for something because I don't want to burden her but she has gotten pretty ill and has cancer. She commented on how she was happy to have made it to see me reach this milestone and I noticed how she has been eyeing some of my stuff, saying my watch is nice, etc. (galaxy watch2). I realized she was really looking to gift me something that is kind of nice for my birthday but also as a memento to remember her.I feel dumb for not realizing this earlier but I am actually having a hard time thinking of what to ask for. Ideally, something that will last a while. I live in a HCOL city with roommates so I don't have a strong sense of home yet. Would getting a 500 dollar normal watch be a good idea? Would love suggestions. I know it would make her happy, and I'd love to have some kind of memento to always remember her byWas thinking maybe a necklace or ring and have some kind of engraving on the ring or have some kind of bird pendant of some kind because I've noticed how much my mom loves birds. I don't wear jewelry so it would be a new thing I pick up to always have something of my mom in my life via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/jbfi7j/suggestions_for_birthday_gifts_for_adult_son/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Need some ideas for a far away friend
I have a friend who’s alive, but not living. Put simply, she’s suffering from deep depression. I want to anonymously send her some sort of gift that will hopefully have a long-term positive effect on her well-being/quality of life. Disregarding specifics for now, are there any gifts or things that one can go do that would lift one’s spirits, regardless of personal preferences? I thought about buying her a spa package, but that’s damn pricey and only lasts for that one visit; not exactly a lasting gift. Any thoughts? I have her address, so I could send her something through the mail; I just don’t have many ideas of how to lift her spirits. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/javv2x/need_some_ideas_for_a_far_away_friend/?utm_source=ifttt
