It's my best friend's 18th birthday near the end of September and I'm trying to start thinking about her gift now because she was really sweet and thoughtful about my 18th birthday and planned my gift months in advance based on something I said in passing (she painted me an incredible little gouache painting of a picture I had mentioned probably three months beforehand). She's really great at that stuff but I've always been extremely forgetful of basically everything so my hope in picking up an idea that way is kind of lost to me.​This year I'm going into university and she's taking a gap year to figure out exactly what she wants to do and to try and start a business with her older sister selling their art. I'm really excited for her but I wanted to get her something really nice and meaningful because I know our friendship will drift while I'm doing school and she's not, just because our lives will be so completely different and I'm really her only friend at the moment.
