So I have a girlfriend whose mother is married and lives in Maine. Her mom typically spends a few of the coldest months, away from her husband, living with her and her son here in Arkansas.Back in January my gf fell off a ladder at work and crushed bones in both ankles and has been in a wheelchair since. She can't drive, cook, clean, or properly care for her son by herself. Her mother has unquestioningly stayed down south away from home for several additional months with many more in foreseeable future to take care of her daughter and grandson. My gf would like to show her appreciation in some meaningful way but hasn't hit upon a brilliant plan yet. I've taken it upon myself to tap into the Reddit hive mind for some amazing suggestions. Her mom likes hiking, shes a scientist, is working on writing a children's book, adores her vizsla dog, is a handy lady with home improvement.... she would probably be more appreciative of an experience or memory-making event rather a object gift. But there are probably some really neat objects I don't know about.Obviously my gf still has mobility issues that limit her participation in anything too strenuous, and workers comp and Cobra insurance are financially limiting, let's just say for the amount of gratitude to be expressed there a budget of $1,000 or less, preferably less. I'm sure I've left plenty of important details out, but any creative thoughts or questions are appreciated. Thank you in advance. via /r/Gifts http://ift.tt/2pgFKwn
