#gifts - #Gift for very practical, hard to shop for grandfather (70s) ?

My grandfather is super incredibly smart with a crazy good memory and quickly tires of hobbies, people, and things. As such, the more practical the gift, the better. One of the problems with buying him presents is that he doesn’t like it if he has to give too much personal information or billing info. Like buying him a Netflix subscription was a huge drama—he refused to use it because he didn’t like that his gift couldn’t be activated without providing billing information. My dad had to just add him his account.I am thinking about getting him a subscription to a VPN but I am afraid it will be a repeat of the Netflix problem.Any suggestions for a gift?He doesn’t like traveling and he doesn’t like going places. He is also not really the sentimental type that will get excited over a digital picture frame or something. In the past his hobbies and interests have included programming (like twenty years ago), woodworking/carpentry, making wine and other booze, and small engine repair. These hobbies go in and out and are hard to keep track of so the more generally useful something is the better. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/7kwgsr/gift_for_very_practical_hard_to_shop_for/?utm_source=ifttt
