I don't know if this is the correct subreddit to ask this. If it's not, please feel free to direct me to a better one! (I was thinking /r/hiking perhaps? Not sure)So basically, my fiancee and I decided on doing something "useful" and a little more conserved for Christmas this year. We usually do something sentimental, but since we are saving for our wedding, we don't want to break the bank.Being the person I am, I always try to put at least some meaning into all my gifts, especially for her (I am the type of person who will never give a gift card unless absolutely necessary. Nothing against them, I just prefer something a little personal).I had an idea that I think will satisfy both fields; something useful and sentimental simultaneously. The thing I came up with is something to essentially keep track of all the places we hike. We love outdoors and hiking and are trying to do it more. We have been all over New England going on trails and mountain climbing, and we have thought about maybe keeping the trail maps and doing a separate scrapbook. We already have a scrapbook of our entire relationship that is an ongoing project. The reason I called it a "something" is because I don't know specifically I am looking for. Ideally, it could be something similar to this? How we could fill out a map and make it personal of trails we've been to (perhaps hang it up as it's worked on). I wouldn't want it to be just a print of a map of the US and us put thumbtacks, but it would be similar in that regard. I would like something a little more elegant. Perhaps even categorize the markings of places we've hiked vs camped, etc.As I said, I'm not sure what type of a gift could satisfy this, but it was an idea I had that I would really like to pursue. Does anybody have any suggestions or similar ideas I could look into?Thank you very much! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/9s7tes/i_have_a_specific_gift_in_mind_for_my_fiancee_but/?utm_source=ifttt
