#gifts - #Family doctor of 25+ years retiring - need ideas

My family doctor is retiring. I've been seeing him since I was a toddler, 25+ years. My final appointment with him is Friday. I have many health issues that he has listened to and offered suggestions. Most notably, he was the doctor that found my thyroid cancer after another specialist passed the buck. In a way, he's been one of the most stable role models in my life. He's retiring to spend more time with his family and pursue other endeavors. We never had much time to discuss his life so I'm not sure of any interests.Does anyone have any small gift ideas? Obviously, a heartfelt note, but I want to also give him a token of my gratitude, appreciation for his great care and listening for so many years. Something inspirational to welcome him to the next chapter of his life.I was thinking a book and found some great books written by doctors: Mountains Beyond Mountains, When Breath Becomes Air. Most of them seem better suited for new doctors though and kind of morbid for a retiring doctor. There's a retirement book, How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free, that takes a different approach to offering retirement advice, but that seems almost clinical. Finally, I thought about a Dr. Suess book. Oh The Places You Will Go because he's pursuing other endeavors, but that seems cliche. Or You're Only Old Once but again, maybe a little morbid. All ideas welcome and appreciated! My budget is about $30-40. Thank you! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/a5bwne/family_doctor_of_25_years_retiring_need_ideas/?utm_source=ifttt
