My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. This is his first Christmas with my family. My parents don't have a lot of money, but my dude and I are doing ok for ourselves. To make things easier we set a $15 limit for presents.I went shopping when I was in NYC last weekend and I bought him a really nice bottle of hot sauce, and a bottle of bourbon maple syrup. Shhh don't tell but I went over the limit by about $3. I got him these because he is obsessed with hot sauce and into whiskeys and bourbons-- these specifically were from an organic, farm to table shop and kind of fancy, so I thought I'd done well.But last night we were talking about what he should get for my parents and he mentioned, "I don't want to get your dad anything food related because it's weird when people give food as gifts." I was like, well, shit.
