#gifts - #A little something for my friend in the army stationed in Texas

I'm honestly not sure if this is the right sub, or if any of you guys will like this idea. I apologize if I've broken any rules. And I also apologize for my formatting I am on mobile.Last Summer my best friend joined the Army! She has a three year contract and while I miss her I'm so proud. She was sent to BCT in Oklahoma and then AIT in Texas, she's now on a base, and it's very hot. I had two gift ideas for her. My first one is in the mail as we speak. I live in Washington, and I picked the first flower I saw this Spring - a crocus - and pressed it between the pages of the horse book she gave me. I then mailed her a little piece of home, I knew it would last years and wouldn't take up much space. She has yet to get it, but back here she was always pressing flowers. I figured a small, thoughtful gesture like that would be better than something like a bouquet. I prefer showing her that I care with time as opposed to money. My other idea was because she opened up to me about how much her animal - loving self missed her dog. I went to the store and printed out five photos of her and her dog together as well as a photo of us, and some of just the doggo alone. I also reached out to her mother on Facebook and requested that her and my friend's little siblings trace the pawprint out on construction paper so I can mail it to her with the photos. I have yet to meet up with her family but I know she's going to love it.If any of you have loved ones in the service, I hope you like my ideas! I have an entire list of things in my notes, as I have picked her up as a pen pal. She confessed to me about how her other friends from home don't try and talk to her anymore and her mother mentioned that as well. I refuse to let her slip away unless she directly tells me to my face to leave her alone (which she won't.)Thank you for reading! I apologize for the wall of text! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/be3v2d/a_little_something_for_my_friend_in_the_army/?utm_source=ifttt
