Ok, please bare with me for a little background to understand the kind of guy he is. My idea is the bottom paragraph. My dad’s birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get him. In the past I’ve bought him cologne (he never wore), some shirts (he never wore), and a nice pair of shoes I thought he’d like (take a guess). In the past few years I haven’t gotten him anything and he never complains. I think he knows he’s difficult and understands money was tight for me. But now our relationship has gotten better and I really think he’s in a place where he’ll appreciate whatever I get him. That being said, I don’t want it to be just a tie or a family photo; I want it to be sentimental and something he would never guess. Here’s the subject I think he would really love:Earlier this year my two dachshunds passed away. They’d been with us for over 15 years each and were my fathers absolute best friends in the world. He took it pretty tough initially but now just loves talking about them and thinking of old memories. I think I want to get him something involving them. I looked into ordering one of those custom lamps with their picture as the light, but my emails never went through to them and in general it felt a bit sketchy. So please, if you have any ideas, send them my way! I really really want to make him happy this time around. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/dppkjr/my_dad_never_liked_anything_i_got_him_as_a_kid_i/?utm_source=ifttt
