#gifts - #Looking for help to develop a gift idea for my brother who can't give gifts

My brother and his girlfriend are in deep financial problems and they announced that they will not be able to afford any gifts this year. I responded by saying that Christmas is not about spending money but rather the getting together with the family and doing something nice for each other. I asked him if he wanted to draw/craft/do something creative instead that would not cost him anything but effort. But he always sidesteps this idea by saying his 'head is not in the right place'. He has been dealing with depression for some time now and I understand that it is hard for him but I don't think this has anything to do this. To avoid going into a psychological rant as to why he might think this way, I will just continue with my idea.So since he won't be giving anything (which he does feel bad about), I thought my gift for him could be something that allows him to give something back to the rest of the family. I think that would be a great way to invite him to join the gifting-evening and to make him feel better about himself and his situation. Now, I don't have yet have a realization of this idea, so if anyone has any idea as to how to approach this, I would love to get your suggestions. Thanks! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e162yt/looking_for_help_to_develop_a_gift_idea_for_my/?utm_source=ifttt
