A dear friend from high school sent me flowers for my 60th birthday. Backstory: We’ve never exchanged gifts. We were very close in high school, then saw each other a couple times a year during college. Fast forward through life and the next time I saw her was 2012. Lived in different states. We reconnected in 2019, when I was driving through her town on a trip and stopped to visit and spend the night. Since then we’ve texted occasionally. I was very surprised to get the flowers for my birthday. Now her birthday is coming up and I don’t know what to do. Sending flowers back seems like I’m just paying back her flowers.
