#gifts - #Family Christmas gifts on a budget

I don't hate Christmas, but gift giving stresses me out. I'm a divorced dad with 2 small kids. They get the lion's share of my limited gift giving budget, but I struggle with the rest of my family. We're not big gift givers and nobody expects fancy presents, but I don't feel like I'm very good at this part of the holiday season. My goal is to always find things that are unique and thoughtful, but that also don't break the bank (which is probably what many of us are after).I did themed gift baskets for my sisters and my mom and dad last year. For my sisters I went with a movie night theme: movie theater gift card, DVD of a movie that felt unique to them, movie candy, popcorn and so on to fill everything out. I probably spent $100 per basket. They're each married and have 2 kids. I felt like it was well received. The gift card (which was for $50) was the main gift and then everything else was just to fill out the experience. For my mom and dad I spent $100 on a local restaurant gift card and then put in a basket with a bottle of wine (for my dad) and some nice hot tea (for my mom).I actually felt I did a better job last year than I had in prior years where I would wait too long and then just try and jumble too much together. I would end up spending too much and it always felt disorganized.Anyway, I'm thinking about going the same route this year, but with a different themes. Some I've kicked around have been family game night or a local sports team theme.Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8qsm5/family_christmas_gifts_on_a_budget/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Graduation gift decision for boyfriend

Help please! Background: I have been with my boyfriend for over ten years, since we were in high school. Throughout this time (after high school) he has been studying and got his bachelor's and master's before studying to become a doctor. He finally finished his degree this month.I have been planning for years to buy something special to mark this huge achievement and always planned on buying him a first edition of his favourite book. (I have never spoken to him or hinted about this so he has no clue, and also that means that I really don't know whether he will appreciate or treasure the sentiment..)Speaking to friends recently, they have all said whilst it is very sentimental, he might not appreciate it the way I would hope and suggest maybe it's better to buy him something else.My friend has suggested I buy him a nice bag/briefcase, a leather one of his favourite designer/brand. I have found a bag and also a book and they are roughly the same price (within $200 of one another). My other options which I had but am not too keen on: - overseas holiday next year - a new iPhone (this won't last, and in a couple years he will have gotten rid of it) - a vintage omega watch (It's bad luck in our culture to give watches so my mum put me off this)Any perspectives would be appreciated. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8o5ls/graduation_gift_decision_for_boyfriend/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Gift ideas for perfume enthusiast?

My mom is obsessed with perfume. She has a whole wardrobe for her collection which she has curated over 20+ years, I won’t buy her any perfume because I can’t afford the quality she’s used to and only she knows exactly what scents she likes, but I’d like to get her something perfume related. Maybe some kind of special storage or display apparatus, or something she can use to bring perfume with her when she travels? Any suggestions are appreciated! I’d also be happy to get crafty. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8n5gy/gift_ideas_for_perfume_enthusiast/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Gift suggestion for new partner!

It’s our first Christmas together and we have agreed to exchange gifts! He is very knowledgeable about mushrooms and plants and cares for plenty of them, he likes the Grateful Dead, playing guitar, and traveling. I am an artist and like to create, so I’m thinking something handmade would be sweet. #gifts - #What to buy my 44 year old mum for Christmas?

She likes a lot of music but is hard to buy clothes for as she’s very slim and fussy about how clothes fit her. She likes candles but I can’t find any nice candles that are personalised online. We have a pug and she’s pug mad! I was thinking of buying her a spa day from wowcher, not sure if they are any good? However she wouldn’t go in the swimming pool at all as she’s not one for lounging about in a bikini.Any wowcher deals anyone can suggest? We can’t really go on holiday as I have commitments with my studies and can’t take time off as it’s exam time soon.Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8lsyy/what_to_buy_my_44_year_old_mum_for_christmas/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Need a way to hide a rock

Okay, a little backstory. Me and my brother have had a little tradition between us for about 6 years now, where we gift each other a rock, and it's been passed between us for a while now. Well, this years, my brother forgot he gave me the rock last time, and now is convinced he lost the rock and the tradition is over. So what I'm asking is suggestion for a way to cleverly hide the rock this year. Every time we gave each other the rock, it's always just been in a gift box, or just had a bow around, but I want to make this year different and special. Don't hold back with your ideas though. It can be from the extravagant to the simple(I'd prefer the moderately simple though). I might find inspiration in any of them. Thanks!TL;DR: I need a clever way to gift my brother a rock that we've been passing between us for around 6 years now. via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8lmpl/need_a_way_to_hide_a_rock/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Fabric for sewing for a 12 year old girl I don't know?

We're doing a gift drive for a local charity at work and I got a 12 year old girl who asked for "fabric for sewing". Is there a good way to buy fabric with a bunch of different pattern options and big enough sizes for her to make different kinds of things? I don't know anything about sewing or12 year olds sewing skill levels haha, but I want to give her as many options as possible while keeping to a $25 budget. #gifts - #F/25 need to find a gift around 45$

I don’t know her too well and we are doing a secret Santa. My idea was doing sorta a themed gift; movie night. Awhile ago I saw her doing tie dye and she seems sorta crafty so I wanted to get her something she could do while watching movies such as cross stitching. She is a photographer but I couldn’t think of a gift to give that’s in the price range except maybe a camera bag which I’m going to assume she owns already. She’s also come in for tea so I’ll get some exotic teas so it’s something a bit different. Of course some snacks so maybe some nice cookies and popcorn but I feel my gift isn’t that exciting or it isn’t suited for her age. Feedback and suggestions would be terrific! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8ktsr/f25_need_to_find_a_gift_around_45/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Family gift swap (random recipient)

My SO's family is having a gift swap this year. The rules are $30 limit and people pick random packages out from under the tree. I've thought of great gifts, but they're also awful gifts if they go to the wrong person. The under-18 crowd is getting their own gifts, so I don't have to worry about something that would please both granddad and a toddler, but it does need to be something that could work for granddad, college kid, or new mom and I'm drawing a blank. #gifts - #Desperately Trying to Think of a Christmas Gift for the Guy I've Been Seeing

I've been seeing a guy for a few months, and while we're not quite ready to say "boyfriend," things are going really well. We agreed to exchange Christmas gifts (And he was the one who brought it up first!!) We don't have a price limit, aside from "be reasonable, lets not get crazy."Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get him. He really likes music, especially Kimbra, Santigold, St. Vincent, FKA Twigs, etc, but their merch all skews very feminine, and that isn't his style. He also loves wine, but he has only recently started to teach me about wine, and I'm not super sure of his tastes.I think that he's the kind of person that would appreciate the gift no matter what, but I really want to do well with this. He's very special and I want to show him that I understand him and am sharing his interests.Any advice would be super, thank you! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e8j3z2/desperately_trying_to_think_of_a_christmas_gift/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Need a gift suggestion for my first Christmas with my boyfriend ❤️

My boyfriend [50s M] has said before that he doesn’t like junk/clutter. Although things are serious, it is our first Christmas together so I’m nervous about what to get him! A mutual friend said he has spent about $35 on my gift. I’d like to spend $30- $50 on his but I’m open to spending more if I find the perfect thing. Some helpful things about him: he wears a lot of hats, he is from New York, he is proud of being Puerto Rican, he clips his keys on his belt and wears them all the time. I was thinking about getting him an engraved keychain with our initials and anniversary, or maybe a hat with something from NY/PR on it. Any other suggestions? #gifts - #Need gift ideas for my boyfriend (19M)

Hi there! I'm seeking help from r/Gifts because frankly, I'm a bit awful at gift-giving. My heart's in the right place but I never know how to shop for people and/or what they would legitimately enjoy as a gift. Sure, there are joke gifts, but I want to give someone something that they will use and genuinely enjoy. Long story short, I need gift ideas for my boyfriend. He's a bit peculiar in that he has very specific tastes: car mod stuff, tech stuff, useful stuff, and video games. Being the perfectionist that I am, I want to give him something special that he will genuinely enjoy. He's told me before that if the gift isn't something that he particularly asked for he would feel bad for the gift giver, and I definitely don't want that to happen here. I'm looking for useful gifts that would please about anyone, preferably ones that show thought. #gifts - #Ideas for "road trip bundle" gift for my retired parents

My parents (mid-60s) both retired this year, and are giving me the whole "Oh, you don't have to get us anything" deal when asking what they want for Christmas, so I had the idea to make a bundle of gifts for traveling and road trips. We took a lot of family road trips when I was younger, but neither of them have traveled much recently. However, I'm stuck on what exactly I would include. Some ideas I've had so far:-Gift card for hotels.com or something similar-Gas gift card, though I'm not sure which chain to buy for, since that'll depend on where they're going-Random "road trip" gear, like travel pillows, phone chargers, and the like-Some kind of specialty "gourmet" snack mixes-A guide book to tourist sites around the USBeyond that, I'm not sure what else to get. They would probably be most interested in visiting more natural locales, rather than big cities, if that helps generate some ideas. I had considered a National Parks pass, but that might feel more like a burden than a gift, given that they don't live close to any of the parks. I also want to get gifts that will give them the most possibilities, and won't trap them into having to go to one particular place or region.Any ideas would be very appreciated! via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e7zq82/ideas_for_road_trip_bundle_gift_for_my_retired/?utm_source=ifttt

#gifts - #Gift for brother (and his wife) that I don't really know anymore?

For the past few years I've gotten one of my brothers and his wife the most generic gifts. For example, last year it was a plain hoodie and a scarf, but I want to try to get them something relevant to their interests from now on. Problem is that I only know what my brother liked last time we really had a conversation (about 3 years ago) and his wife has never shown any interest in anything, but I figure they probably have *something* in common. So, things my brother used to like:Game of ThronesDeadpool (comics in particular, but probably the movies too)The MCUThe Walking Dead, books and the showNot really an *interest*, but he's in the militaryWe used to have a lot in common, so thinking of maybe getting him some of the things I'm currently interested in, maybe the first issues of a few different comics he might enjoy or something like that. Or do you suggest any subreddit, where this question would fit better?Thank you!PS: I am living in Europe, so it should be possible to ship them there :) via /r/Gifts https://www.reddit.com/r/Gifts/comments/e7xp3v/warm_gloves_to_use_smartphone_with/?utm_source=ifttt
