Hi so I (f24) have this friend Marcus(M27) we have known each other for a little over a year. When we first met we got on immediately and our friend ship has really blossomed. He was there for me through some very tough times at the beginning of our friendship and really is the highlight of my day when we chat, or hang out. Lately in the past few months I have started feeling our friendship change into a potential relationship however it is slow growing and I want it to happen naturally with time. Marcus is 3/4 Italian and 1/4 African but he doesn’t know which region. Since we’ve met he has mentioned several times whether just to me or were with a group, that he dreams of tracing his heritage back to Africa, but he just doesn’t know where to start. Well I’ve been doing some research and found those African Ancestry test kits that seem promising and I’m highly considering getting him one for Christmas/his bday(they’re a few days apart). However, I’m not sure if this is too much? We have never exchanged gifts before, and we have not stated that we would start, but I genuinely just think he would really enjoy the gift and hopefully it could start his journey on finding his roots. So would this be too “big” of a gift? I think I will get him something either way but maybe I should go with something smaller for the first gift?
